Woman Delivered From Christmas Spirit

12/10/2007

By John Green

Tulsa—Mary Jo Haglin knew that something was wrong—she just didn’t know what it was.

“Every year, starting after Thanksgiving, I would begin to get more and more depressed. January was the worst. I felt like I was walking through a dark night, with howling wolves, and the incessant drumming of the Energizer Bunny. On the outside, I seemed all happy and cheerful. I served croissants to my family, and not the microwave kind. Inside, I was thinking about ways to kill myself with an electric carving knife.”

It wasn’t until she attended a deliverance service, led by demon-buster Bob Larson, that the source of her troubles became clear.

“Bob was naming demons—you know, Lust, Drug Addiction, Nail-Biting, Soap Opera spirits, the Internet, stuff like that. He got to Mammon, which he said was a prince, ruling over lesser demons, and then he said ‘Christmas Spirit’ and bam! I knew. That was it! Most of my life I had been suffering from the Christmas Spirit. Bob described some of the symptoms of this kind of possession—compulsive shopping, parking lot rage, excessive credit card use, overeating of desserts, the slaughter of helpless fir trees—and I thought 'That's me! He’s talking about me!’”

Mary Jo joined the prayer line of several hundred spiritually tormented people all waiting to have their demons confronted.

Bob Larson

“I had to wait for five hours, but it was totally worth it,” she says, a smile slowly spreading across her face like Judy Garland coming down off a three-day painkiller binge. “I needed to go to the bathroom, but I didn’t want to lose my spot in line. Bob personally prayed over me, even though by then I had my legs crossed, I needed to go so bad. But Bob stemmed the floodtide. He had a Word of Knowledge that the Christmas Spirit had first taken hold of me as a young child. My parents forced me to have my picture taken with Santa at a department store. It gave me nightmares for years afterward. I see now that Santa is an acronym for Satan.
Evil Santa
A stronghold was established, and I was in deep bondage. Every year, when I went back to the stores, especially the Wal-Mart electronics department, I was reliving the abuse that I had suffered as a child.”

Bob Larson laid hands on her, cast out the demon, and told her how to stay free.

“He had me go home and bring back all the presents I had bought. The Nintendo Wii and iPods I had gotten for the kids. The 62-inch plasma TV for my husband. I had to make a complete break to ensure my freedom. I turned it all over to Bob, as I renounced the Christmas Spirit. I cut up my Best Buy card and my Costco ID, and an incredible feeling of total peace and freedom settled over me. I haven’t told my husband or the kids yet. I’m going to wait until Christmas morning and surprise them. From now on, Christmas is going to be different in the Haglin household. Bob gave me some special envelopes. All I have to do is fill in the credit card amount that I would normally have spent on presents, and drop the letter in the mail. It’s so easy! God bless you, Bob Larson!”

LOL,
thank you, I really laught a lot. What spirit could I possibly have? Well, I dont celebrate christmas and Satan Claus is not common in the place where I live.
But I like spending money on presents, I like giving to my kids and other poor people that come asking for money. But when the offering baskets or the christians ministry begging letters show up, I have absolutely no mind to give a single coin. I dont like the idea to finance the living of ministers. Why dont they work honestly ? I dont want them to have more money than the others.
So, what is my problem ?

Doug Ives | 02:21 am on 12/14/2007

I have attended many churches and feel the ministry is just another industry sucking the life out of Christ or at least attempting to. The messages should be free and if we can not proselytize without profit then how are we to fit through the eye of the needle. I once went up to a pastor who was adorned with all kind of gold jewlery and said something that so pissed him off he called for security to haul me out of the church. I asked him if he was adorning himself with Jesus' money by wearing such extravegant jewlery and did he think this was a wise use of that money? Man did his attitude change from Dynamic to outright cruel treatment of me.

Well,

If I might be so bold as to say you might HAVE a problem, I'd say that it is that you do not realize that for every one of these evil, money-grubbing, hypocritical hacks that call themselves "ministers" in an attempt to swindle you or someone else, there are thousands of men and women who are truly dedicated to a ministry somewhere. A lot of these people work extremely hard for little or nothing, acting out of their faith and love, and lumping them in with the fakers does them a very profound disservice.

Other than that one oversight, I'm pretty much with you on this.

That picture of the yelloweyed Santa is going to haunt my dreams.

I wonder if that was real???...hard telling with Bob Larson.....can anyone tell me if the Mormons believe that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers?

Tyler | 09:42 pm on 12/11/2007

Yes, they do believe that Satan and Jesus were "spirit brothers" before they decided to send Jesus as the Saviour instead of Lucifer aka Satan.

Anonymous | 08:59 am on 12/13/2007

Yes, they do.

I just got an eye opener yesterday, as things take a while to kick in, the Holy Ghost prompted me to take a look at these huge houses next to the school my daughter attends, which is a Fundamental Baptist Christian school. I remembered the pastor stating he was moving into his new house that was built. Then I saw that house. Absolutely HUGE! What does a man, his wife & their son need w/such a huge house? Is that what my donation $ was spent on? He can't be content w/the size home he was living it so he had a larger one built? Another thing that bothered me is seeing a lot of women that are in the congregation as well as working in the church/school, who have their hair cut as short as men's hair! Women are to have long hair which is given to them as a covering, men are to have their hair short to be uncovered while praying & for people to have pictures of Jesus w/long hair contradicts Scripture, as Jesus wouldn't disobey His Father's Commands. Also, in the job description for church elders, deacons, bishops, their commanded to be husbands of 1 wife, ruling their family/children well, to be an open book, & not do things for filthy lucre's (money) sake, so that no one can find fault in them. Well, this Pastor of the church I attended, his daughter had a daughter out of wedlock, or she's separated from her husband or divorced. Everyone's hush hush about the truth, afraid to speak against Pastor's family. NOT ME! He had a authoritarian attitude w/me, forbidding women to email me, as I asked in an email for prayer, given the details of my prayer needs, as they & I were in a Moms group that's supposed to carry each others burdens, when 1's down the others are to hold them up in prayer. The pastor accused me of giving all those women a link to a feminists website, which I did NOT do. He then forbid me from speaking to them. I went thru some domestic violence at home, they referred me to a gov't run battered women's shelter that believes in enforcing divorce, not working out marriages. I was at 1 of those places that told me I had to leave if I didn't divorce him. & here this pastor having a new huge home wouldn't take me& my children in at this time of need???? What happened w/what Jesus told the goat, When I was hungry, you did not feed me; when I was thirsty you did not give me drink; when I was naked you did not clothe me; when I was a stranger, you did not invite me in; when I was sick you did not care for me; when I was in prison you did not visit me, then casted them into outer darkness where there's weeping & gnashing of teeth, & HE said that when we do not do for the least of 1 of His brethren, then we're not doing it for Him either! & then this Pastor having seats reserved at fellowship luncheons in the center of the room & not allowing others to sit w/him, as if others aren't good enough. That's when I started seeing they're more like Pharisees & Scribes wanting the best seats in the synagogue, than true followers of Christ. Then God showed me there's plenty who are money changers in churches that have church 'book stores', inside their churches. Freely we are to give as freely we have received. & if it be a book store, then what's the reasons for pictures, & jewelry & worldly items being sold ie; candy, gum, cookies, caffeinated beverages that lead to addictions being sold there? & women pastors too? People need to get back into the Bible & stay away from those who tickle your ears w/lies.

Yep, you've got some demons to get rid of.
Try a storefront church in a poor section of town.

Anna | 03:03 pm on 12/15/2007

They were selling cookies and women pastors? Sweet snacks and baubles are one thing, but human trafficking in church?!!

Wow, Danielle. As Shakespeare so eloquently put it, "Show the devil the best pair of heels and run."

Yes, Mormons believe Jesus and lucifer are brothers to you and me and everyone else. We were all pre-existent spirits of our heavenly father and heavenly mother.

I used to be a Mormon

Sounds like you still are..

Lance | 09:55 am on 12/12/2007

Hilarious piece. But I think she meant to say that Satan is an ANAGRAM of Satan.

Anonymous | 11:38 am on 12/12/2007

Hello

Why don't you just read the Word of God and get to know God in a personal way and and let the Lord handle the preachers..evangelists who are multimillionnaires but again we don't know the heart of the people only God knows..we should not worry about them because we all have to come face to face with our Creator and Savior and He is the only JUDGE..I personally believe to attend a spirit filled church and get to know the pastor and family lifestyle.. Be alert and make sure you know your pastor and family.

these aren't cheap laughs, people have paid dearly for the misguided, self agrandising, money grubbing sermons from some of these tella-vangilists.

There is no one with the last name of "Haglin" listed in the AT&T Tulsa Metro Area phone book. As far as I know Bob Larson has not been in Tulsa in quite a few years. But, Bob Larson does need to be watched out for the spirits which he personally possesses, including the spirits of being judgmental and of dishonesty.
. . . Larson was still a teenager when he started his music ministry and he was definitely stuck on himself. I saw him at Carbondale Assembly of God in the very early 1960s.

I laughed till I cried! Was a wonderful spoof on the silliness of this holiday. Of course everyone wants to celebrate the birth of a baby...that is not threatening. But once we start dealing with the death of Christ on the cross that gets heavy. Can't compromise that..either you believe He is Saviour or you reject Him.

I think there are millions of people out there that need to be delivered from the Spirit of Christmass. The fact that Christians get all caught up in it, like unbelievers, really bothers me.

inspectordave | 12:36 pm on 12/13/2007

Funny stuff. Seems like some good people have a hard time finding good things to do, so they criticise everyone else. I am a bi-vocational pastor, parent of five wonderful children, a foster parent, among other numerous civic duties. I needed a good laugh, Thanks!

Is Danielle for real? What do hair length and knocked up teenagers have to do with this article? I only read that ongoing rant because it was humorous.

.... Hmmm... Wait...
Is this a religious website? looks like... O dear... Or maybe Oh dear... Holy cow... no that won't do at all....

Seriously, I'm racking my brain in ways to say this... Hm....

AH HA!

Santa Claus is not real. Sorry kids. Thus, how can someone who doesn't exist be Satan? Or if thats the case, Satan doesn't exist. Faith is a way for two things to happen. The first I agree with, as I'm sure will you. It is a way to give morals and kindness and all that lovely stuff to the world. The second is for some Pope, or other such figure, to dominate whoever they so deem. This 'total control' is classified as tyrany. There you go.

Don't feel enlightened? There's a third way it affests our lives too! It corrupts an poisons the mind, making it impossible to change your mind... It is a poison of closed mindedness...

But thats just propaganda. If you've managed to get this far, you deserve a nice big reward. You have enough of an open mind to accept somthing you are unsuree on. Bravo.
