Count me in! Send specifics as to where to send the money! I’m familiar with the procedures using Cayman Island bank accounts, since that’s where I keep my billions … err … the ministry’s tithes.
And thanks for including me in this wonderful business opportunity. God really does work in mysterious ways to those of us shrewd enough to discern His Mighty Will. I remain,
Faithfully Yours,
Benny

Subject: One Thousand-fold Blessing Opportunity!

Rev.Hinn,

With a grieving spirit, I read about the ponzi scheme initiated by Greg Setser that scammed you, Reinhard Bonnke and Kenneth Copeland, along with thousands of other Christians, of a total of $173 million.
I praise God you got your $300,000 back. No doubt, God told you to withdraw from the second investment of $400,000, even after you made a profit of $165,000 from the reselling of gallons of dried paint and recycled condoms. It’s hard to imagine Christians ripping off brothers and sisters in Christ. Setser got what he deserved, 40 years prison time and will have to pay back a $62 million fine, but given his age and financial situation, it’s unlikely he ever will complete his sentence. How sad. He will no doubt receive his just reward in the next world, praise God!
That said, Rev. Hinn, I’m impressed by your business savvy, and you just might be the man I need for mine. Even more, I need someone like you who can hear directly from God.
Please understand, I appreciate your strict confidentiality about what I’m about to tell you.
It has been said that Setser offered you a 25% return on your investment. I have a business proposition for you and I can guarantee more than a 1,000% profit! You decide how much you want to invest. I need $1 million. Of course, if I limit the number of people involved, each individual will earn more profit.
Rev. Hinn, I’m president of an international mining company and have to take risks daily. This opportunity has no risks, and you have my personal word you will get what you deserve for all you do.

I understand your hesitancy after what happened before. When, through His agents, God revealed the money-making venture I’m about to share with you, I was skeptical myself. After my extensive research, I can promise that this is too-good-to-be-true deal really is true!

Without bothering you with too many details - I know you’re a busy man -- I can tell you this: The opportunity involves gold. No, not coins or bullions bags. I’m talking tons and tons of gold. As I type this, gold is over $900 an ounce.
So what does that mean?

I’m sure you of all people know, with gold, there’s 14.56 ounces in one pound. There’s two thousand pounds in a ton. We’re talking 29,120 ounces. At $900 per ounce, we stand to make a profit of $26,208,000 for one ton. And remember we’re talking an unlimited amount of gold. Now you know why I stress confidentiality and the need for a limited partnership.

Benny, I’ve looked into your eyes. I feel I can trust you, so I’ll tell you a little more. You will remember from your studies in Greek of King Midas of Phrygia, a region of Asia Minor, on a peninsula between the Aegean and Black Seas. King Midas was known for his infamous rose gardens, but he was more better known for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold. He’d make Bill Gates and Donald Trump look like paupers, and their combined wealth would be considered small change. Anyway, King Midas bathed in the Pactolus River located at the base of Mt. Tmolus. This river consists of nothing but pure gold bullion.
I know, I’ve seen it. I’ve felt the golden sands flow thru my fingers. And it’s there for the taking if you know where to look. What’s even more remarkable, the river is never more than three meters wide and thirty centimeters deep, making above-ground mining easy and inexpensive.

Need more proof? After King Midas died, his successor, King Croesus, was then the richest man in the world. He didn’t like the publicity and after what you’ve been through, I’m sure you can understand why. It’s rumored he contributed a fortune to the godless oracle at Delphi. I’m sure you’d agree, as Christians we should be stewards and heirs of God’s creation. With your financial backing and my knowledge of mining operations, we can make the kingdom of God rich.
Interested? If so, I will provide instructions for sending the money. Please let me know where to send the return-on-investment checks.
Looking forward to walking with you on the streets of gold.
            Sincerely,
            John
P.S.
I questioned whether I should do business with you when I read about you laying off sixty employees from the your ministry tape and book sales division, including your prayer request support, because business was good. As a cost saving measure, you outsourced  their jobs to an agency. I said to myself, That Benny Hinn is one shrewd businessman and who how knows how to turn a prophet into a profit.

I am former interior minister of the lately passed African president Tutsi Hutu of Rwandacide. He were sadly assasinated for his good liking of our loyal peoples. My position, Rev. Hinn, leaves me wanting to deposit the American sum 47.2 million US dollars which good president left in charge me. I must get it out of my country before rebels seize all the bank. when you help me with this impervious matter, you will keep for kindness a gifting tithe of 15% of sum. I know you a man of God with highly moral upstandings. If you kindly remonstrance to my emailing, I put you in feeling with all manner of banking experts who wait for your response. Simply give that man your Cayman account number and I do the rest. God bless you sir.

You have one excellent sense of humor! Great comment.

Hey Al I don't think you'll get Benny to "bite" on this! All kidding aside, the "one thousand fold return" is nothing new. Mike Murdock has been peddling this scam for years. And as Mikey says, "the thousand fold return has worked UNCOMMONLY!! well for me!"

A1 | 06:43 pm on 2/18/2008

I'm unable to take you call right now. Please leave your name, phone number, bank account information and I'll get back with you as soon as I can.

Josh H | 07:53 pm on 2/18/2008

Ahhh...but you see, it's different from the thousand-fold return...it's 1000% percent...that's fancy business talk for a MILLION-fold return!*

*(I say this to make an example point about how sad some people are in terms of getting swindled due to basic mathematical illiteracy...if you don't "get" my joke in this, please consult your nearest math textbook)

Anonymous | 04:50 pm on 2/19/2008

Yes Josh H,I was looking at the top of the article,it says 1000 fold. When it comes right down to it the 1000 fold or 1000% is a scam from these charlatans! You people may as well go to a casino and spend your money there. Yes you'll lose it there too,but you'll have more fun doing it!

*sigh* - I wish I'd gotten in on the Amway....I mean Excel....I mean Avon.....nevermind..........

There's simply no way for an honest man to make a buck these days.....

As opposed to Benny Hinn's financial lifestyle and business practices, consider the novel idea that dedication to Christianity is an imposition of self-restraint: We restrain ourselves to loving God and man, not being a demigod against (or conning) other men. Secondly, dedication to Christianity is enforcement of self-restraint. Third, Christianity is a continual process of future enforcement of self-restraint. What this means practically in this day is powerful, if we dare observe self-incriminating truths about today’s television ministries. That so many ministries loath rebuke and abandon self-correction is proof they have abandoned self-restraint. As soon as possible television ministries must 1) disclose finances, pay schedules and all perks to leaders, including equity ownership, 2) provide warning labels against dangers of over donating, 3) Disconnect completely from the horror of self-serving seed faith doxie, 4) Repent for taking undue advantage of gullible Christians, 5) Rededicate operations under the banner of Christ to be impositions of self-restraint, enforcers of self-restraint and teachers by example of self-restraint into the beyond. (Thoughts on “imposition of self-restraint” originally from Allen Guelzo’s 11/22/06 editorial “The Stuff of Democratic Life” from the Wall Street Journal in regards to Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.)

men and brethren: be assured that GOD is not mocked and vengence is mine saith the LORD! it is a sad and heartbreaking thing to watch and listen to the most hideous and vulgar blasphemy being spewed from the mouths of these prosperity preachers. from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. these word-faith preachers are completely corrupted by their coveteous greed for the things of this world. they care not for the things of GOD and HIS WORD. JESUS is our supreme example that we are to follow and JESUS told us to take up our cross and follow HIM----NOT the temptations of the flesh. what bothers me to, is the fact that so many people run to follow after these men and women. people will gladly give their time, money, and resources to these decievers, but will turn their backs on their poor and needy brothers and sisters who are in need of prayer and financial help. i know by experience as i have called all the major television preachers to try to get financial help for some poor and needy widows and orphans and other families over the last 40 yrs.--but i was told by these so-called christian org's--"NO WE DON'T GIVE ANYONE ANY MONEY, YOU NEED TO CONTACT YOUR LOCAL CHURCHES". so i contacted the local churches and was told that they only helped their own members that belonged to their church, well i thought that if you were a believer in JESUS CHRIST then that makes us brothers and sisters with others who claim to be CHRISTIANS. the BIBLE teaches us to LOVE NOT IN WORD ONLY, BUT IN DEED ALSO. i have also emailed these preachers and get no response back, except a form letter asking for donations. well personally i won't send them a dime. the scriptures say "those who give to the rich will become poor" well i leave you with this thought, find someone you know or hear about who really needs prayer and financial assistance and do what you can to help them in their time of need. the LORD JESUS says "he that gives to the poor are as lending to the LORD and HE will REPAY. GOD IS GREAT AND HE IS WATCHING. OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAT SACRIFICE.--OBEY-JESUS AMEM AND AMEN.

that calvinist doug | 02:18 pm on 2/20/2008

Obey-Jesus,

I'm in agreement with your general thesis. The devil, as always, is in the details. Leaving aside the televangelists (don't get me started on those guys), when you consider the dilemma of the local church, things are a little different. Funds are always limited, you simply cannot give to every deserving cause; you know this is true from personal experience. Second, unfortunately, there are "professional" need-ies out there who go from church to church collecting rather than working (a clear violation of scripture); I know this, I've seen it with my own two eyes. Sometimes it can be very difficult to discern the sheep from the wolves, as it were. Lastly, I read SO MANY people on this site who state that they won't give to any church or Christian group due to their skepticism (while vehemently exhorting others to do likewise), it makes me wonder: if no one gives (following their advice!) how are churches supposed to help ANYONE?

These difficulties notwithstanding, as I said, I agree wholeheartedly that we ALL should and could (including myself) do more to be the hands and feet and a little less of the tongue. The cynic in me must wonder, however, what all the "I won't give churches a dime" crowd ACTUALLY DO beyond covenience?
