First He Lost His Flock, Then He Lost His Frock

It’s been a tough year for the Reverend Michael Moynihan. First he had to resign as pastor of St. Michael the Archangel in Greenwich, Connecticut, after being caught embezzling $500,000. Demoted to the job of chaplain at State University of New York Maritime College in the Bronx, he was then caught sharing a New York apartment with an actor, and so now he’s been defrocked. Which means one gay guy in your apartment is worth more than a half million dollars to the Catholic church. I wonder how far you could push that.

Hmmm... didn't one diocese declare bankruptcy? Didn't another mortgage it's cathedral? What's the total cost (so far) of payments made in the sex with boys scandals?

And then there was the whole witch hunt thing in seminaries across the US.

And the little thing from the Vatican about gays being too "damaged" to be priests... yet Cardinal George in Chicago is crippled by polio. Isn't he too, too damaged to be a priest? I suppose damage is in the eye of the hypocrite.

So the church has pushed this very far indeed - millions upon millions of dollars, psychological damage to its own seminarians, and further alienation of the gay community.

The catholic church really has lost its edge when it comes to manipulating the masses.
