Did you personally read the files that Grassley has in his possesssion? You are only making assumptions, but Grassley has the prove, and don't forget that he is a Christian! and a Senator.

What about a full and "transparent" disclosure of senator's finances - what about their kick-backs, perks, and benefits. They have healthcare for life - among other things. It's ridiculous. I believe in giving where you feel led to give, and if it's "misused" then that person will answer to God. It's not my issue.

ok, if you read that donald trump had a gold plated toilet worth 50000 would you care? no. but joyce meyer yes lets just cut her throat right now and condemn her to pieces, well just for your information...the 'commode' was not a toilet but was an antique chest of drawers that was installed in one of her offices. I repeat, she did not buy a 23000 dollar toilet to crap in it was an antique chest of drawers!

"sponsored" their friends by giving them bogus contracts and paying bogus bills of millions of taxpayers money. How much of those millions ended back in those wonderful polititians' pockets we will never know. Our former PM did not know anything about those incidents (?)His company is registered in the Bahamas so he does not pay any taxes in Canada.
Premier of Ontario gracefuly "accepted" increase in his wages in amount of $40,000. How many of us do not even make 40K a year?

Why does it matter? It's so ridiculous! It's not a tax issue at all! At the heart of it, people are simply upset because they have the mentality that pastors and churches should be poor. That isn't what God wants nor is it what was intended. If you give exceddingly, you will reap exceedingly and that is all that is happening in these churches. No one throws a stink because porographic companies have private jets, or because rappers have 24 carat gold ceilings! It's a double standard in America and it needs to stop. Although I believe it's essentially a witch hunt, I'm certain nothing will be found degrading the churches or the way their monies are spent. And now--more than ever--people can hear about the greatness that can come from sowing and reaping!! And people that do so can live more prosperous lives!! Praise the Lord!!

The main point here is the use of public resources. Churches are tax exempt for the sole reason of providing their resources to the public and if a church objects to showing his books to the public then he is guilty of the common sense transperency doctrine. I personaly believe these churches should post their annual financial statements on their website for the public to see.

I also wonder how many of these churches spend any money on missions in different countries, after all that is what the bible is all about...Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel....SHAME ON THEM ALL for allowing this to come to this point.

Unfortunately Sen. Grassley has a necessary task that I think will be beneficial to "the Church". He is taking a responsibility Christians should have taken themselves in demanding and expecting transparency and honesty from their pastors and televangelists. Our complacency and apathy have led to a lack of accountability that has afflicted the Body of Christ like gangrene and annihilated its street-cred. While we shouldn't defame or accuse anyone without proof (according to earthly AND divine law), it isn't unreasonable--indeed it is a duty--that we ask those who have tax-exempt charity status and benefit from massive donations (whose sole purpose should be/is to help others) to prove that they're doing just that, helping others. All the more if their mission truly is the accomplishment of the Kingdom of God. I hope this inquiry will show they put their money where their mouth is; otherwise they dishonor themselves and those complicit in their charade and bring prejudice to the Gospel. I hope and pray God will guide this inquiry so that the truth may be revealed and that Christians may judge/act accordingly.

Hello world of opinions: Please research before you opine. The new ministry building needed furniture. The ministry said it was one piece of a 68-piece furniture purchase in 2001 for a total of $261,498, but the $23,000 figure was an “errant value assigned by the selling agent.” Oh by the way, this toilet is not something you sit on...it is an old chest of drawers. Antique dealers know this. Love you all. Howard

I completely agree with the Senator and with this man (http://www.tubestime.com/watch/ending-god-s-tax-exempt-status-1 ). Churches became businesses, they shouldn't be tax-exempt.
