On the Other Hand, I've Never Seen Them in the Same Room

Chuck Norris is living in northeastern New Mexico and claiming to be the Messiah and, according to state officials, has been having sex with his followers who know him as Michael Travesser. Not really. That’s Wayne Bent, 66, pastor of Lord Our Righteousness Church of Strong City, New Mexico, anointed as Messiah in the year 2000, seen here in Delta Force 2—sorry, I mean, in his picture on the church web site, which, by the way, is one of the more entertaining Whack Job Prophecy sites I’ve ever come across.

Yearning For Sanity Ranch

Texas CPS

Now that we know the raid on the Yearning For Zion Ranch near Eldorado, Texas, was caused by a false allegation made by a person who lied about who she was and what she knew, aren’t there civil liberties protections that should kick in for members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose families have been torn apart? At the very least, if they want to do further criminal investigations, the children should be returned to their parents until charges are filed. It seems incredible that anyone should have to make this point, but the police are not allowed to seize 436 people without charges in order to make a case against one parent who, it turns out, is probably falsely accused. And the taking of DNA samples used to be dependent on a person’s consent. Apparently that protection has also flown out the window in this case of excessive Old West justice, even by West Texas standards. It doesn’t help that officials of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services continue to make inflammatory claims such as “evidence of abuse” without producing a shred of evidence or submitting the findings to a court. Why aren’t more people bothered by the lack of judicial review? A court is the only place where the state would have to prove its right to snatch children and teenagers. A great deal is being made out of the issue of underage pregnancy, even though underage pregnancy has not been, up till now, grounds for removing a girl from her family. Pretty soon now, if we don’t adjudicate this, someone is going to start using the phrase “McMartin Day Care,” and that someone is likely to be me.

And God Created Brigitte

Bardot

More evidence that we’ll never figure out the French: on June 3rd, Brigitte Bardot is expected to be found guilty for the fifth time of inciting racial hatred against Muslims, which is a crime in France. Things that we would just call nutty protected speech France gets all legalistic about, even though this is the same country that doesn’t think Christians (or any other religion) should be allowed to proselytize in the public square. Brigitte’s latest offense is a letter she sent to President Sarkozy accusing the Muslims of destroying France. We can’t let that kind of thing go unpunished or this headstrong 73-year-old might start dancing barefoot in the basement of a jazz club like she did in And God Created Woman. Does anyone think it’s ironic that the French feel the need to punish people for being rude and insulting?

Mumbledymouth Jesus

Passion

The Passion of the Christ, you may recall, was performed in Latin and Hebrew, but mainly in Aramaic, because Jesus and the disciples spoke Aramaic and those were the three languages spoken in Israel at the time of Christ. Since the town of Malula in Syria is one of the last remaining Aramaic-speaking enclaves anywhere in the world, the movie was shown there recently—and nobody could understand it! Partly this is because there were so many different dialects used in the movie, but mostly it was just because the pronunciation of the actors sucked.

He Should Have Made It Clear That He Intended to Shoot Non-Russians

Russian Deer

This doesn’t make a lick of sense. Phillip H. Miles, pastor of Christ Community Church in Conway, South Carolina, is doing three years in a Moscow prison for bringing a single box of ammo for a deer rifle into Russia. It was a gift for a fellow pastor in Perm, in the Ural Mountains, where hunting is not only common but you can pretty much shoot anything, up to and including Chechens and Jews.

Watch out, John.
Better be careful talking smack about Mel Gibson. He'll accuse you of being part of an international Jewish conspiracy!

The Strong City cult has a video describing how their leader is the second coming of Christ. Believe in me (the leader of the cult) and you will be saved, or not, and go to hell type stuff.

They use a string/gregorian chant version of Metalica's "Nothing Else Matters" for part of the score. That alone should tip you off that they are false profits. Me thinketh "God" could whip up something a little better than Metalica for his debut video announcing his second coming. Maybe something off "Ride the Lightning" but surely not the Black album.

Whiskey! Tango! Foxtrot! Unbelievable John, defending the FLDS. If half of what I have read and heard is true, there is no defense. If girls are being forced (or coerced) to marry while underage, that is Rape and Child Abuse. The rights of children to not be raped and abused are more important than the "parental rights" of rapists/abusers or the parents who allow it to happen. This is not the same as Suzy getting pregnant after the prom. These are old perverted men "marrying" underage girls. These are spiritual leaders telling them if you want to go to heaven this is what you have to do. If the allegations are true, it is organized, institutionalized rape and abuse. Fucking insane to defend that shit. Maybe I am over-reacting because I have a 13 year old daughter (same age as the alleged brides), but I think not. She is a child, not a baby factory. This is wrong on so many levels, I have to stop and take my heart meds.

I'm a firm believer in the Constitution of the United States and its preceeding document, the Declaration of Independance. I cherish the freedoms that thousands of men and women have died to provide for me, including the Freedom He died to provide.

I believe I have an open mind, and I can see the rational of the religous questioning the government's involvement with the YFZ ranch and inhabitants. Some may feel that this incident opens the door for future raids of religous compounds, or at the least, further investigation into large scale religous corporations.

In my humble opinion though, I must agree with the bellied-one above. Though the raid was triggered by what may be now known as errant information, the raid itself uncovered numerous alleged violations of law. Returning these child-parents to the YFZ compound would be like force David to face Huliath--Goliath's bigger brother. At this point, the state's main concern must be the safety and well-being of these children. An in-depth investigation will take some time. If these children were returned to their psuedo-parents for the duration of the investigation, how many more little girls would be subjected to "marriage"? How many more little boys would fall victim to the mental ingraining that tells them it is appropriate to act like their father?

This website should not continue to poke fun of the Giveme Dollars and Joyce Moneys of the Christian world while supporting the likes of these religous pedophiles. Doing so would indicate to me that your writer's priorities are even more skewed than one would care to believe.

What is next? Supporting those who commit suicide bombings, terrorist acts, and genocide in the name of Allah?

I've actually read the Strong City website. I particularly liked one..um...adherent's review of the documentary film, “Conspiracy of Silence - Illuminati Pedophiles in Washington," and was amazed to learn that though this groundbreaking work was originally intended for the Discovery Channel, it was for some reason rejected. I'm convinced it would have done better if they'd stuck to their guns and made it into a musical.

I hate to bust your bubble, but in Texas, as in most states, being pregnant as a young teenager IS evidence of abuse.

Taking a kid across state lines for that purpose is a Federal crime. I might question some of how the state is processing this case, but there are clearly children there who have been abused.

that calvinist doug | 01:15 pm on 5/02/2008

Imagine I just suspected my neighbor of raping his step-daughter, but I had no proof, so I made a fake report to the police. They come out and find the step-daughter (let's just say she is 13) pregnant, multiple wives (lest we forget, that IS illegal), etc. Since my phone call was fake, should the police say "just kidding!" and leave?

I'm all for due process, but give me a break. If law enforcement finds compelling evidence of a crime, especially one involving children, should we ignore it because they didn't have a warrant? Damn lawyers...

Stop Simplistic Thinking | 08:59 pm on 5/02/2008

How about a different analogy? I'm your neighbor, and I'm angry with you for some reason. You leave your garage door open one day, and I sneak in and put a box of child pornography in the garage. You close the garage door none the wiser. I call the cops and tell them that I heard someone calling for help inside the garage and it sounded like they were being raped. The cops break into the garage, and lo and behold, what do they find? What would you rather try to prove, that the pornography wasn't yours even though it was in your garage or that the police had no reason to break into your garage since it was a false report? I am no fan of lawyers or the legal system (I can't bring myself to call it the Justice System without laughing hysterically), and that is exactly why I think due process is so very very important. Because you can't trust the corrupt system ......... take Spitzer, for example, or John Mitchell, or Alberto Gonzales, or J. Edgar Hoover, or Janet Reno, or the NY cops acting as hit men for the mafia, or on and on and.......... and yes, there are some fine honest people in the system trying to do their best- and being fine honest people they should have no problem following due process since they don't want the corrupt players to win.

budda | 10:03 am on 5/03/2008

No one snuck in and put little girls in their beds, them none the wiser. Bad analogy.

Civil liberties are there to serve people, people are not here to serve civil liberties. When liberty stops protecting the innocent and protects evil, liberty stops being a good thing. Careful what your worshiping. Freedom is not God though some of you civil libertarians seem to get the two mixed up.

I agree.

In my opinion all Polygamist compounds need to be investigated. The system is set up in such a way that young women are treated as "treats" for the older men and the young men are seen as a threat to the continuation of the system. In reaction to this many of the young men are expelled for some relatively miner infractions. This leads to the all of the "lost boys" that are basically on their own at a young age with little support and preparation for dealing with the real world. Its so sad to see what they have to go through. The way that the rules about age of consent are transgressed should be investigated and pursued as vigorously as they are in the rest of the nation's population. Maybe even more so because the system seems to be set up intentionally to perpetuate and hide it from authorities.
Maybe this is an over generalization, but I suspect that if you did some digging in any of the fundamentalist LDS polygamist compounds one would find some very serious laws being broken.

But I don't know maybe I'm just watching too much "Big Love"

Sensationalism! Pure sensationalism. You lure me in here on the false pretense of "Chuck Norris"... like it's an article on him. Then, it ends up being a story about some Bent guy. You left links to Bent's site. Hey! Where's the links to Chuck's site??

;)

Preparing for the apocalypse... which probly DOES have something to do with "Delta Force 2"... lol...

Your friend,
